Old Newspaper Articles Are Fascinating
~~ At Nichols Library today we were assisting someone in newspaper research and in doing so I stumbled upon a new site. Well, actually the site is *not* new. It is just new to me.
The site is Newspaper Abstracts and covers not only the United States but other countries as well.
For example, if you are researching specific counties in any state, Newspaper Abstracts pulls from *all* its resources for the listing. You read right — ALL the resources. If there was an article published in a newspaper in Texas that references a town in your county, that article is shown in your county listing.
CAVEAT: This site is, I believe, a volunteer effort. So searches and listings are not pulling from every newspaper but the results can be fascinating. Even when the result doesn’t specifically apply to an ancestor. See Etowah as an example.
