The Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Nichols Memorial Library at the corners of Dwight and Cabot Avenues in Gadsden. Jeff Sauls will present the program. His topic will be “Just Where Is Turkey’s Town? Turkey’s Town location as told by the Cherokee people who lived there.”
Mr. Sauls is a Native of Turkey’s Town (Etowah County. He is currently the President of the Cherokee County Historical Preservation Society. He is a member of the Alabama Chapter of the Trial of Tears Association. He is working with the Alabama Chapter and the National Trail of Tears Association to get five sites Certified as Trail of Tears sites through the US Park Services Trial Division. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. The theme will be “Welcome Fall.” The Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society Board will be providing lunch that day. We will have hot dogs, fittings, and desserts. We will also be selling raffle tickets for an Ancestry DNA Kit. Tickets are $5.00 each.
